Using OCF in Harsh Conditions
Hosted by Ryan Gonzales
It’s every photographer’s worst nightmare situation. Shooting in full sunlight in the middle of the day with out a tree or shade nearby. Of course it makes more sense to shoot at the golden hours of the day, those few minutes during sunrise and sunset. What if you had a client that had a very tight schedule and could only book for after sunrise or right before sunset. Do you turn them away and risk losing out on a big sale, absolutely not! For those times don’t panic because in this class you are going to learn how to use OCF to continue making money during the entire part of the day.
Ideally, if you were shooting at this time of the day you would have a diffuser or a reflector right? You would use the diffuser to soften the harsh light and add a reflector to open up the shadows from the high ratio right? What if I could show you a better and more efficient way to do just that without 2 assistants to hold the diffuser and the reflector? Would it be worth your time to learn how to use off camera flash to give you the lighting pattern needed to flatter your clients facial type of body? If you answered yes then you can’t miss this class.
I am going to show you how I photograph at all times of the day so that I can continue making money and also at the same time convenience my clients schedules. I meter my natural or ambient light to give me a starting point so that I am not blowing out details like the hair or light colored clothing. You will also learn how to use a variable neutral density filter to allow you to use apertures like F1.4 or anything wider like Canon’s F1.2 L series. I am also going to teach you how to use HSS or High Speed Sync but at the same time explain when and when I choose not to use it.
You will learn about different light sources and modifiers that I use to be able to create the image that is in my minds eye. Remember not all of us have studios so the outdoors becomes our mobile studio so we need to understand how to use it to create images that will continue to separate you from the local competition. Join us for this class where you will get insight and the education that everyone should be getting to stay ahead of the game.
